Artificial refuges attract reptiles as they absorb heat and provide shelter from predators. As a result they can be successfully used as an aid to reptile surveys.
These refugia are made from corrugated roofing material which is lightweight and waterproof, providing excellent conditions beneath for reptiles. Made from bitumen soaked organic fibres, the material is free from asbestos and non-toxic and is both waterproof and long lasting. Sheets are 2.6mm thick and measure either 500mm x 500mm or 500mm x 1000mm. The depth of the corrugation is 40mm.
Refugia should be located in sunny areas near to cover and away from human disturbance.
Available individually or as a pack of ten or 100.
