Biography

Sandra Markle is the author of more than 200 non-fiction books on science topics for children and has won numerous awards for this work, including being named to the Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards Honor Book list, the National Science Teacher Association and Children's Book Council's list of Outstanding Science Trade Books for Children, the International Reading Association's Young Adults Choice award, the Society of School Librarians International Book Award For Language Arts K-6, the Parent's Guide To Children's Media Nonfiction Award, The Bank Street College of Education's Best Children's Books Of The Year Award, and Nick Jr. Magazine's Best Books Of The Year Award.

In 1999, Sandra Markle was named to the Women of the Year list by Women in Technology International. In 2007, she was honored as one of Ohio's outstanding authors by the State Library of Ohio and her birthplace was marked on a commemorative state map. As a Georgia resident, she was also named Georgia Author Of The Year five times. In addition to her books, Sandra Markle has developed science specials for CNN and PBS, and two widely acclaimed Internet-based programs for the National Science Foundation.
