Thirty-four taxa are accepted. whereas the remaining names are rejected or considered to be doubtful. The accepted Aspergillus species are shortly described and their taxonomic position is discussed.

A. amilovorus Panasenko is validated by a type designation. The ascomycetous genera with an Aspergillus anamorph are reviewed. Emericella nivea Wiley & Simmons is transferred to the genus Fennellia Wiley & Simmons
