About this book

Language: English with Nepali summary

A Handbook of the Flowering Plants of Nepal is a list of the flowering plants of Nepal. Considering the discussion held in the 7th intemational editorial meeting of the flora of Nepal in Kathmandu in January 2017, the Department of Plant Resources planned to compile all the flowering plants reported from Nepal in three volumes as Handbooks. This set contains the first two volumes. The plant list is based on herbarium specimens of flowering plants collected in Nepal although compiling them all was a challenge as they are preserved in various institutions in Nepal, India, Japan, Europe and America and most of them could not be checked in person out by the authors.

Volume 1 lists all the flowering plants occurring in Nepal. In this study, an updated checklist of the flowering plants of Nepal is presented based on herbarium specimens collected from Nepal and given in available literature and online resources relevant to new taxa, national or regional new records, and new taxonomic papers. A total of 58 families of flowering plants are presented in volume 1.

Volume 2 continues the list of flowering plants of Nepal. As in the first volume of this series, an updated checklist of the flowering plants is presented based on herbarium specimens collected from Nepal and available literature and online resources. A total of 67 families are presented here.
