Written for Paperback
This field guide is quite practical being lightweight, relatively compact and will easily fit into a deep trouser pocket.
The ID photos are incredibly clear and are visually beautiful. The range maps are also clear and accurate (created using IUCN maps and adjusted according to recent data). They are useful for differentiating between similar species (eg. Pelophylax sp. or the subspecies of fire salamanders). Each species account includes size information, habitat preferences, reproductive period, any sexual dimorphism, call descriptions, tadpole morphology and IUCN Red List status.
This is an essential book for herping enthusiasts as well as general naturalists in the Western Palearctic!
