About this book

This circular collects several pieces of writing about chameleons. The naturalist Johann von Fischer kept colonies of them in Vienna in 1882 and made detailed observations on capture, transport, husbandry, behavior, coloration, and reproductive biology. His studies have been largely unavailable to English readers and are translated here. A chronology of other studies on captive European chameleons is also included. The second half of this circular consists of a gallery of classic chameleon illustrators from the 15th to the 20th Century.
