About this book

Language: Spanish

This monograph of the series Fauna Ibérica is devoted to the order Rhabditida, a nematode taxon very frequently found in natural and arable soils as well as in freshwater sediments, but extremely rare in marine habitats. The order Rhabditida is divided in four suborders which differ in the morphology of lip region, stoma (buccal cavity) and pharynx. All of them known to occur in our fauna represented by 15 families, 36 genera and 83 species.

The initial section devoted to general morphology of adult forms, information concerning their natural history, and the methodology used for their study. The second, longer section presents the group’s taxonomy study: diagnoses of the taxa, identification keys to species level, as well as descriptions, measurements and illustrations of every species present in the Iberian-Balearic fauna.

This work is the first study of this type written in Spanish, and certainly be a reference work in its field for further comparable studies in both our country and abroad.
