The largest district of Gujarat, Kachchh comprises of about 24 % of the geographical area of Gujarat, India's westernmost state. This study was undertaken as part of the approved annual plan of research work for the years 2011-2014 for the Desert Regional Centre, Zoological Survey of India. The surveys were primarily aimed to observe the vertebrate faunal diversity components such as fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals of Kachchh Biosphere Reserve (KBR). During the course of present studies (2011-14), five faunistic surveys were conducted in the entire area of KBR, which covered a total of 34 major faunal congregation sites.
