The Flora describes, for the first time, all the vascular plants growing in the southeasternmost states of Mexico, including the Yucatan Peninsula, and all the Central American republics. Hundreds of botanists specializing in tropical taxonomy from around the world are compiling and synthesizing data on the plants of this ecologically diverse region for this project.
This volume includes a single family of dicotyledons, Piperaceae, with three genera and 960 species. Of these, 120 species are for the first time scientifically named and described in this volume, and 73 are beautifully illustrated with black and white drawings.
