The Flora covers all species occurring in the Japanese Archipelago, including the southern Kuriles, Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and the Ryukyu and Ogasawara Islands. Introduced, naturalized species within those areas are also treated.
Volume 2b covers the following 12 dicotyledon families: Droseracea, Hamamelidaceae, Crassulaceae, Saxifragaceae, Pittosporaceae, Rosaceae, Leguminosae, Podostemaceae, Oxalidaceae, Geraniaceae, Zygophyllaceae, and Linaceae.
