About this product

The HI-Sound Compact is derived from its larger predecessor, the HI-Sound DR, a renowned parabolic microphone used by biologists and wildlife enthusiasts. Designed to provide superior sound quality and minimal background noise, the HI-Sound Compact offers exceptional portability and convenience, making it perfect for recording wildlife. Constructed from polycarbonate, the reflectors offer the perfect combination of strength, flexibility, and transparency. The entire unit is lightweight, weighing only 300g, and features an innovative folding structure for easy assembly and disassembly. This design is ideal for filmmakers and researchers who need to carry minimal equipment, freeing up your hands to focus on your work.

Equipped with two high-performance AOM-5024 microphonic capsules, the HI-Sound Compact delivers a superior signal-to-noise ratio of 80dB. The HI-Sound Compact can be directly mounted on your camera using the flash mount, with the stereo jack connection plugged into the camera’s microphone input. This eliminates the need for an external power source, as the microphone is powered directly by Plug-In-Power (PIP). Additionally, it can be mounted on a tripod for static applications or a carry handle if used in standalone mode. If purchased as a kit you will receive a compatible handle, windshield, and a bespoke carry case for increased travel protection.
