Neotropical migrants – species which breed in the United States and Canada, and overwinter in the Caribbean, Mexico and South America – have been the subject of much recent research, particularly in view of the drastic decline in some species. This is a major compendium of information on these species. It provides accounts for 361 species, giving range, status, breeding habitats, nest site and wintering areas. Also included are area maps of Western Hemisphere distribution, an appendix of major habitats used, and which species breed / winter in each habitat, and a list of species which are increasing / decreasing in the US.
