The British Dragonfly Society was founded in 1983 by a group of scientists and enthusiasts, chiefly as a recording and conservation organisation.
Among its publications is the Field Guide to the Larvae and Exuviae of British Dragonflies, a fully illustrated guide to the larvae and shed skins of Britain’s dragonflies and damselflies.
Shorter British Dragonfly Society publications, such as Managing Habitats for Dragonflies, and Dig a Pond for Dragonflies, are now available online.
The British Dragonfly Society has established the Dragonfly Recording Network to monitor numbers. Dragonflies and damselflies are a good indicator of the health of habitats. More information can be found at www.british-dragonflies.org.uk
