About this book

The second edition of this RES Handbook is a fully updated new edition of Smit's classic guide to British fleas published in 1957. The text and keys have been updated to include 6 new species, making a total of 62 species found in the British Isles. Also included are modern techniques of mounting and preservation, and methods of collecting which are now more suitable for protecting habitats and the fauna and flora within them - it is no longer considered acceptable to shoot badgers and dust hedgehogs with DDT!

This new edition contains full distribution information, originally published separately to Smit, but now included and fully updated up to 2001.
