The Freshwater Biological Association has been at the forefront of studying freshwater fish, invertebrates and ecology for more than 80 years.
The association publishes scientific and general interest books on the freshwater ecology of Britain and Ireland, including volumes on identifying freshwater fish and other marine animals.
The Scientific Publications series includes expert identification guides on freshwater fish and other aquatic plants and animals, with identification keys and detailed ecological information on the organisms and the conditions they inhabit.
Also among Scientific Publications are books with practical advice on scientific sampling techniques. The association also publishes conference proceedings, regional case studies, occasional and other publications.
The Freshwater Biological Association has bases in the at Lake Windermere, in the Lake District and beside the River Frome, in Dorset, the most southerly chalk stream in England.
