Lynx Edicions

Lynx Edicions was founded chiefly to produce the mammoth Handbook of the Birds of the World, which describes and illustrates all the world’s bird species.

Running to 17 volumes and written by 277 specialists, with 33 illustrators, and original contributions from more than 850 photographers worldwide, the Handbook of the Birds of the World - or HBW in the shorthand version - was a groundbreaking event in natural history publishing and was completed in 2013 with the publication of a concluding special volume, the 17th in the series. Lynx Edicions followed HBW with the equally ambitious Handbook of the Mammals of the World, which was completed in 9 volumes in 2019. It continues to add to its catalogue and has co-produced titles with organisations such as BirdLife International and the IUCN.
