The lithium-ion version of the Song Meter Mini Bat 2 provides a smaller, lightweight and affordable alternative to the Song Meter SM4BAT whilst offering extremely long battery life. It develops the design of the original Mini Bat series, eliminating the need for an external battery holder and providing the capacity for 6 rechargeable 18650 lithium-ion batteries, giving the recorder up to 125 10-hour nights of recording.
Unlike its predecessor, the Song Meter Mini Bat 2 is now tripod mountable using the 1/4" tripod connector, or it can be fixed directly to surfaces via included screw holes through the case. It can now also be fully secured using a Python lock, giving peace of mind when leaving the device in the field. It now features a hinged waterproof lid to allow easy access to the interior and superior weatherproofing to an IP67 rating.
The integrated microphone offers excellent recording quality, comparable to the SM4BAT with the SMM-U2 microphone, and has the capability to record in full-spectrum or zero-crossing, or both at the same time. You can also use it to record bird song and other sounds in the audible range by adding a second acoustic microphone (not included), although it cannot produce acoustic and ultrasonic recordings simultaneously. The schedule, set-up, and status of the recorder are operated via Bluetooth using an app that can be downloaded to your iOS or Android phone/tablet. There is also an option to set the location of your Mini Bat using the GPS from your mobile phone. The app is simple to use and allows you to manage multiple recorders simultaneously. Checking the status of your recorder is unobtrusive and does not require opening the unit and can be done using the LEDs on the unit itself.
Power is supplied internally using 6x 18650 lithium-ion batteries (not included) and recordings are stored on an SD card up to a maximum capacity of 1 TB. Analyse your recordings with Kaleidoscope Pro Software which is fully compatible with this new version of the mini bat recorder.

Note: that due to shipping restrictions, we are unable to send the lithium-ion batteries that power this unit on their own, they must be shipped with the unit that they operate.
