About this book

This new guide to the preservation of invertebrates offers a wealth of exciting ideas and methods. Undoubtedly, the beginning of such an endeavor is the enthusiasm for beauty, especially the colorful splendor of many beetle or butterfly species. In order to preserve their fascination permanently, however, it takes patience, time and manual skills as well as a wealth of knowledge. First of all some basic understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the animals to be preserved has to be acquired. Then select the appropriate method. Here you have to deal with the available materials and their chemical and physical properties and reaction modes. As in the kitchen and in the workshop, the first successful exhibit is sure to be preceded by a series of failures. Here is the author as an honest practitioner to recognize and he does not hesitate to encourage his readers, not immediately throw the gun in the grain, if something does not want to succeed in the beginning.
