About this book
Over a ten year period The Vincent Wildlife Trust undertook a number of winter and summer surveys along the west coast of Ireland in pursuit of the Lesser Horseshoe Bat. A range of structures were searched, both natural and man-made, resulting in the recording of over 8 000 bats. The long-term benefit of this work was the acquisition by the Trust of seven of the bat roosts and the subsequent enhancement of these: by 2011 these sites held 1 529 bats. This publication provides a background to the species, describes the surveys, presents the results, and makes conservation recommendations.
