Richard Peirce is best known as a shark conservationist. Trying to help ensure a future for this threatened group of animals has been his main focus for over twenty five years. He was chairman of the Shark Conservation Society and the Shark Trust for over ten years, and is the author of Sharks in British Seas, Sharks off Cornwall & Devon, Shark Attack Britain, The Long Swim and The UK Great White Shark Enigma. He presented the BBC Radio 4 series Shark Hunt, has appeared in countless documentaries, and made several films including, with Simon Spear, the award winners Sharks in British Seas and Porbeagles in Peril. His other books include local history books, and The Poacher’s Moon and Giant Steps which focus on rhinos and elephants. Richard and his wife, Jacqui, are confirmed nomads who have lived in Europe, Africa, and Arabia. They spend half the year in South Africa and their love of wildlife takes them onto or into the water or to the bush at every opportunity.
