About this book

Language: French

Among the approximately 850 species of birds found in Europe, some are common and other much rarer. Bird straying from their usual migration routes, buffeted by storms or depressions, victims of a policy mistake or the vanguard of a new strategy for migration or settlement across the species: there are many reasons for the rarity of some of them. They cross northern Europe to the south and vice versa, they cross the Atlantic, sometimes even from the Pacific, to the delight of birdwatchers.

This photographic guide presents 460 rare bird species in Europe or a large part of the European continent. For each species, the text includes a description, information about its voice, and its habitat. Maps show distribution during the breeding season in winter and areas where the species occur throughout the year. Furthermore, many photographs are used to show specific diagnostic characters to help identify the species correctly.

- The first photo guide on rare birds in Europe.
- Innovative, thorough and meticulously documented.
- 460 species, 2000 photographs: a bible for all ornithologists.
