The Eijkelkamp piston sampler soil auger head is suitable for sampling less cohesive soil layers with a high sand content below the groundwater table and indeed can only be applied below the water table ad in moderately cohesive or weak soil layers. The piston sampler can take almost undisturbed samples and is available with a 75cm or 2m length. Piston samplers are suitable for general soil research, environmental and hydrological research, quaternary geology, for sampling in conjunction with bailer boring and for wet decontamination.
The auger head should be used in conjunction with a soil auger handle and extension rod.
