The second volume of Moss Flora of the Middle Part of European Russia includes 174 species and 8 varieties of pleurocarpous mosses, occurring in the middle part of European Russia (the North and the Caucasus are not included, whereas the largest part of the Ural is included). Each species is characterized with respect to its morphology, ecology and distribution, and is illustrated based on collections from the area. Peristome structures are shown in SEM pictures for each family. The Latin descriptions of new taxa and list of nomenclatural novelties are given on p. 942.
