This guide presents information of 100 species of plants native to the city of Quito (Ecuador) and surrounding areas. Species are arranged in alphabetical order by family. Each species includes its scientific name, common name in Spanish and Quichua, a color photograph of the flower, uses, habitat and altitudinal distribution, habit or growth form, and endemism – when applicable. It also includes a key by color, a glossary, bibliography, and index. The guide returns to the City of Quito, its inhabitants, and visitors, appreciation and basic knowledge of the traditional native plants that grow in the area.
