About this book

Language: Norwegian

This third edition of Gyldendals Store Nordisk Flora has undergone a complete revision on the basis of new DNA research, so that it provides completely updated information on the relationship between plant families. In addition, several species have received new illustrations with clearer details. The revised maps show the species' current distribution areas.

Gyldendals Store Nordisk Flora is an indispensable standard work for all botanists. The book describes all known plant species in the Nordic countries, i.e. Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Spitsbergen. In addition to the plants that grow naturally in Nordic nature, it has included a large variety of species that have been straying from gardens and nurseries or been introduced in other ways.

The book is illustrated by Bo Mossberg. The text is written by Lennart Stenberg in collaboration with some of our leading botanists and gives the readers information about the plants' appearance, size, variations, frequency, ecology, flowering time and typical habitats.
