About this book

Language: French

After having studied the Symphite Hymenoptera, or sawflies, of the Canton of Geneva, Harry Boillat extended his coverage to the high chain of the Gessian Juria (F) and Vaudois, between the Crozet (F) and the Mollendruz (Vaud-Suisse (VD)) and its southern foot between Farges (F) and la Sarraz-Bussigny (VD).

This work is not only the fruit of intense field work, but also of very long hours spent in surveying and revising the Jura specimens present in the collections of Symphites of the Museum of Geneva and the Cantonal Museum of Zoology of Lausanne. It covers 261 species, 160 of which have been captured by the author since 1990.

The scientific interest of the work done by Harry Boillat on the Symphites of Western Switzerland is undeniable. Its overall balance is impressive: 398 listed species, or nearly two-thirds of Swiss wildlife, of which 287 are observed in nature.
