The sealochs of north-west Scotland (MNCR Sector 15), together with one sealoch in north Scotland (MNCR Sector 3), have been studied as part of the Marine Nature Conservation Review programme.
Each area is described in a standard format, giving details of its physical and biological character, the biotopes present and their distribution, current nature conservation designations, the main human influences and relevant literature. The areas surveyed and the marine biotope information are also presented in a series of maps. These area summaries are supported by a summary of the biotopes defined for sealochs in the Sectors and by a list of species recorded from the surveys.
