This semi-finished house martin nest is a great choice for areas where pools of clay, loam or loam soil are available for house martins to use to complete the nest. The advantage of this is two-fold: firstly it allows the house martins to perform some of their natural nest-building behaviours. Secondly it means that the nest is secure and cannot fall off, unlike nests which are built entirely from scratch. Made from Woodcrete, these bowls are designed to be extremely long-lasting and are guaranteed for 25 years.
The nests are very easy to clean and will simply slide out of the mounting rails. Cleaning is not essential but is recommended - make sure that you do not clean nests until the birds have left in the autumn.
Nests should be installed beneath the eaves of a building using four screws in the mounting brackets provided. The No. 13 nests provide a modular system and several can be placed next to each other. If fitting more than one nest bowl, the optional Flat Connector allows multiple nest bowls to be fitted side by side in a row. )The flat connector is designed to be used instead of the mounting rails on the border between nest bowls). You can also fit a complete nest bowl next to a semi-finished bowl, as both types use the same mounting system.
