About this book

Results of a study on Mucor circinelloides, M. ramosissimus, M. bainieri, M. zonatus, M. racemosus, M. plumbeus and M. fuscus are compiled. The species are separated into a Mucor circinelloides group and a M. racemosus group. Accepted formae are M. circinelloides f. circinelloides, M. circinelloides f. lusitanicus, M. circinelloides f. griseo-cyanus, M. circinelloides f. janssenii, M. racemosus f. racemosus, M. racemosus f. sphaerosporus, M. racemosus f. chibinensis.

Descriptions and original line drawings of cultures grown under standard conditions are given. In addition the variability as influenced by environmental conditions such as temperature, light and medium, and the outcome of mating experiments are mentioned. Furthermore a key to the accepted species and formae and lists of doubtful taxa are provided.
