The Sound Approach

Popularising bird sounds and turning bird watchers into bird listeners through its books and recordings is the ambition of The Sound Approach.

Founded by avid birder Mark Constantine - who also founded Lush Cosmetics - The Sound Approach team has built-up a collection of bird sounds that now has more than 50,000 recordings, containing the sounds of more than 1,000 bird species. The books aim to raise standards in the use of sound for bird identification, and each offers a masterclass on listening to birds, whether in the deserts of the Middle East or beside the shore at Poole Harbour.

In 2015 The Sound Approach was awarded the British Trust for Ornithology’s Marsh Award for innovative ornithology.
