About this book

The Birds of Devon covers all 420 species known to have occurred in the county and is the first complete avifauna for the county since 1969. Each entry is illustrated with photographs or line drawings, and many contain charts depicting occurrence, migration patterns and other data.

Devon has an unusually wide range of habitat. Although a number of species have declined within the county in recent years, others, such as Little Egret and Cetti's Warbler, have colonised. The benefits of conservation efforts are reflected in the increased numbers of Devon's bird, the Cirl Bunting.
