One of the Honduran treasures is The Lancetilla Botanical Garden. This Garden was founded by the United Fruit Company in 1926 and once boasted to have the largest collection of tropical fruits in Latin America. Information regarding the colorful history of Lancetilla was available only as oral traditions or in hard-to-find places. To remedy this situation, I have compiled a 90-year timeline of Lancetilla (1926–2016). I also include events in the history of Honduran banana companies, dates of protection for north coast natural areas, folklore stories, and tributes to exceptional Honduran guides and botanists.

Uno de los tesoros hondureños es el Jardín Botánico de Lancetilla. Este jardín fue establecido por la United Fruit Company en 1926 y alardeaba tener la colección más grande de frutos tropicales en América Latina. La información interesante sobre la historia de Lancetilla existía solamente en la tradición oral o en fuentes bibliográficos de acceso difícil. Para remediar esta situación he recopilado una historia de 90 años sobre Lancetilla (1926–2016). También incluyo eventos claves de la historia de las compañías bananeras, fechas de protección para áreas naturales de la costa norte, cuentos folclóricos y tributos a guías y botánicos excepcionales de Honduras.
