About this book

The present study is the first-ever consolidated faunal inventory of Satkosia Tiger Reserve in the state of Odisha, India. This involves the recording and documenting of 1504 faunal species and 795 floral species. Where the kingdom Protista involves 50 species, the kingdom Animalia is represented by 901 species of invertebrates and 553 species of vertebrates and the kingdom Plantae is represented by 781 species. Approximately 66.47% of faunal species of the total reported species have been recorded for the first time from this protected forest area. This involves new distributional records for the state of Odisha of 11 species of flora and 340 species of fauna. Furthermore, 22 faunal species are being reported for the first time from India. Moreover, four species of fauna and one species of flora have been described as new to science from this reserve.
