This eighth volume of Flora Agaricina Neerlandica is dedicated to the fungal genus Cortinarius. About 280 species found in the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium), accompanied by numerous colour photographs and drawings of their microscopic characters, are fully described and illustrated in detail. Keys for the identification of the different species are included. References are also given to extralimital species occurring close to the limits of the area of study. As a novelty, this volume presents phylogenetic trees based on the ITS region, considered the best genetic barcode in fungi. Data on the occurrence and distribution of the different species in the Netherlands and Flanders are also included. Finally, to evaluate the distribution of the different taxa outside the area covered by this volume, information from the molecular data of Genbank and United Database was consulted.
