This is an independent continuation of L.A. Garay’s treatment of Orchidaceae in Flora of Ecuador. The Ecuadorian genera of Orchidaceae are treated in alphabetical order, from Aa through Cyrtidiorchis. Fifty-three genera (including one intergeneric hybrid) are treated, comprising altogether 274 species, including 3 named hybrids. Two genera that were accepted by Garay are here regarded as synonyms: Aspidogyne Garay = Erythrodes Bl. and Coccineorchis Schltr. = Stenorrhynchos Spreng. Taxa that have already been treated by Garay are treated summarily, whereas taxa not previously treated are given full synonymies, complete descriptions and exhaustive specimen citations. Complete keys are given for all genera and representative species are illustrated. One new combination is made: Cyclopogon plantagineum (Garay) Dodson & Luer. One new name is introduced, Brachionidium Pepeportillae Luer.
