About this book

Language: French

How do you tell the coveted wild garlic leaf from the poisonous lily of the valley leaf? Although these two species are only distant relatives, their leaves look very similar at first glance and one mistake could prove fatal. When the flowers of Switzerland's native plants have already died back or are not yet visible, it is sometimes very difficult to determine the species. This identification guide contains nearly 2,600 species and nearly 7,500 drawings and is very useful for determining the vascular plants of Switzerland in the absence of their flowers. Thanks to the commented drawings of the habit of the plant, leaves and shoots, even a non-specialist quickly recognizes plants without flowers. Convenient synoptic tables and determination keys based on vegetative traits make this book indispensable for excursions throughout the year. This corrected and expanded third edition includes 148 new species, including aquatic plants and the most important neophytes. By adapting the species names to the current standard in the Infoflora Checklist 2017, the species are now fully compatible with Flora Helvetica. Finally, the distribution maps have been updated.
