Ictionimia Andaluza is the final result of two research projects of the Plan Nacional de I+D+i, that ran from 2006 to 2013. Lexical materials were collected in 133 surveys of direct sources from the Andalusian professional fishing sector (216 qualified informants), carried out in 35 fishing ports in Huelva, Cádiz, Málaga, Granada and Almería, on 358 Atlantic and Mediterranean species of fish, mollusks, crustaceans, echinoderms and cnidarians, most of them of commercial interest, caught by fishing fleets. The work is structured in two main chapters. Chapter 1 analyzes the written sources of the historical Andalusian fish name heritage existing in 75 bibliographic documents produced from 1238 to the present. Chapter 2 collects the results of the collection of ichthionyms in the fieldwork through the lexical surveys of the informants, as well as the linguistic analysis of the materials obtained. After a first methodological part, the results are presented in a species file format, in which the information of each of the 358 studied is treated separately. Each entry includes: 1) Current scientific name of the species, 2) A reliable illustration, 3) Ichthionymic notes 4) Ichthionym in the Andalusian bibliography for the species in question, 5) Andalusian trade name, and 6) Equivalents in others languages. After chapter 2 the cited bibliography section is included, it will help the reader in the quick search of terms. With all this, this book is today the broadest compendium of ichtionymic denominations of Andalusia, where geosynonyms are reflected, many of them new, both in terms of signifier and meaning, as well as an analysis of external or internal motivation of most of them, with which the authors try to reveal their origin and meaning. All this information will help interested linguists. Thus, the most complete collection of marine species scientifically associated with concrete realities is made available to the community, reflected in faithful and detailed illustrations.

Ictionimia Andaluza es el resultado final de dos proyectos de investigación del Plan Nacional de I+D+i, desarrollados desde 2006 hasta 2013. A partir de los materiales léxicos recopilados en 133 encuestas a fuentes directas del sector pesquero profesional andaluz (216 informantes cualificados), realizadas en 35 puertos pesqueros de Huelva, Cádiz, Málaga, Granada y Almería, sobre 358 especies atlánticas y mediterráneas de peces, moluscos, crustáceos, equinodermos y cnidarios, la mayoría de interés comercial, capturadas por las flotas pesqueras. La obra está estructurada en dos capítulos principales. El capítulo 1 analiza las fuentes escritas del patrimonio ictionímico andaluz histórico existente en 75 documentos bibliográficos producidos desde el año 1238 hasta la actualidad. El capítulo 2 recoge los resultados de la recopilación de ictiónimos en el trabajo de campo mediante las encuestas léxicas a los informantes, así como el análisis lingüístico de los materiales obtenidos. Tras una primera parte metodológica, los resultados se exponen en formato ficha de especie, en el que se trata por separado la información de cada una de las 358 estudiadas. Cada ficha incluye: 1) Nombre científico actual de la especie, 2) Ilustración fidedigna de la misma, 3) Notas ictionímicas 4) Ictiónimos en la bibliografía andaluza para la especie en cuestión, 5) Nombre comercial andaluz, y 6) Equivalentes en otros idiomas. Tras el capítulo 2 se incluye el apartado bibliografía citada ayudará al lector en la búsqueda rápida de términos. Con todo ello, este libro es hoy el más amplio compendio de denominaciones ictionímicas de Andalucía, donde se plasman geosinónimos, muchos de ellos de nuevo cuño, tanto en cuanto al significante, como al significado, así como un análisis de la motivación externa o interna de la mayoría de ellos, con el que se trata de desvelar su origen y significado. Toda esta información ayudará a los lingüistas interesados a conocer de una forma segura las realidades ictiológicas. Se pone así a disposición de la comunidad el más completo acervo de especies marinas asociados científicamente a realidades concretas, plasmadas en ilustraciones fieles y detalladas.
