About this book

Language: French with bilingual abstract in English and French

The habit and morphology of 188 species of African mosses are illustrated on 211 plates, of which 104 are original; the other ones were previously published (sometimes in a different arrangement) in the Bulletin du Jardin Botanique National de Belgique. Systematic order follows Shaw & Goffmet (Bryophyte Biology). Names are those of the Checklist of the Mosses of Sub-Saharan Africa, version 3, 11/99, of O'Shea. Synonyms are only given in two instances, either when the synonymy is dubious, or when the synonym was used in the previous publication of the illustration.
