A Malaise Trap is used for the collection of flying insects - particularly Hymenoptera and Diptera. The Malaise Trap is a tent like structure - insects fly into the screen and migrate to the highest point where a collection head is situated. The head can be a plain bottle, a dry or wet killing bottle. These traps will catch very large numbers of small insects and a conservation policy over their use should be maintained.
This Malaise Trap is made from polyamide fabric. It is designed to be suspended from trees or other objects using the guy lines provided, whilst the bottom of the trap can be pegged to the ground using the fixing pegs supplied. A collecting bottle is not provided with this trap. Please see the Accessories tab for compatible collecting bottles.
Available in black and white or all-white material.
