Biography

Richard M. DeGraaf is Chief Research Wildlife Biologist and Leader of the U.S. Forest Service's Wildlife Habitat Research Unit at Amherst, Massachusetts. He is author or coauthor of numerous books on wildlife and forestry, including New England Wildlife (UPNE, 2001), Trees, Shrubs, and Vines for Attracting Birds, second edition, revised (UPNE, 2002), and Landowner's Guide to Wildlife Habitat (UPNE, 2005).

Paul E. Sendak is Research Forester and Forest Economist at the U.S. Forest Service Northeastern Research Station in Durham, New Hampshire, where he specializes in management of northern conifers and northern hardwoods. He is widely published on a range of forestry topics.
