This book consists of 3 parts. Part 1 introduces definitions and descriptions of noise along with the ways in which sound is measured. Part 2 provides a general introduction to the principles and practice of noise control. Finally Part 3 provides an introduction to the provisions of, and basis for, legislation, codes of practice and guidelines which relate to noise from transport, the community and the workplace, and offers a critical appraisal of these standards.
