About this book

Bordered by four bodies of water, France is home to a wealth of spectacular birds – ranging from Greater Flamingos on the Mediterranean coast to the White-winged Snowfinch, found soaring above the mountains. Birding locations include the vast mudflats and saltmarsh of Morbihan Bay, the ancient oak-rich Perche-Trappe Forest, the coastal saltpans and warm hills of migration hot-spot Gruissan, and the rugged, dramatic peaks of the Alps.

Fully revised and updated, Birds of France covers the 300 birds most likely to be seen on any visit to the country. The concise text covers essential information on each species, including habitat, behaviour, songs and distribution, with each photo carefully selected to aid identification. A guide to the best birdwatching sites in France is also included.

Portable yet authoritative, this is the perfect companion for any wildlife enthusiast visiting or living in France.
