The Genus Palops Erichson, 1848 is revised taking into account the entire available typical material and a very large number of non-typical specimens. The taxonomic rank of the taxon Palops is discussed; two new species are described all the known species are redescribed; some nomenclatural changes and new synonymies are proposed; 2 species previously assigned to the genus Palops are reorganised as a unique taxon and transferred to the genus Onthophagus Latreille, 1802 (s.l.).
