About this book

Language: German

In the new book, the authors present all 72 species of mammals found in Luxembourg, making them known to a broader public: from the six-gram Alcathoe bat to the impressive red deer, from the sympathetic European hedgehog to the little-loved brown rat, and from the widespread wild boar to the wild boar to the only once observed pond bat, they are all represented here. Among them are species that are considered extinct in Luxembourg today (such as European mink or lynx), or as introduced species (non-native species such as traccoon, fallow deer or mink) have found their way into Luxembourg or have been illegally released here.

On each double page numerous facts about each species are displayed clearly. The book is also richly illustrated with many photos of Luxembourg nature photographers. Unfortunately, as native mammals are more and more endangered, just like insects and birds, the two authors also included a longer chapter on mammalian protection in Luxembourg.
