Numerous papers have been written on the endoparasitic worms of North American snakes. While trying to identify and compile data on these helminths, it became apparent that the literature is scattered and that no good current synopsis is available of host records or geographical distribution of helminthic infections in the snakes of the United States and Canada. This paper summarizes published information on the hosts and geographical distribution of the digenetic trematodes, cestodes, acanthocephalans, and nematodes endoparasitic in native and introduced snakes of the United States and Canada. The paper is divided into two secdons; a synopsis of the helminths and a list of helminths by snake host.
