This monograph presents an overview of the fauna of semi-winged insects of the infra-orders Nepomorpha and Gerromorpha of the North-Western Caucasus. The history of the study of aquatic Hemiptera in the territory of the Caucasus is reviewed, an annotated catalog of aquatic semi-winged fauna of the North-Western Caucasus (50 species from 21 genera and 11 families) is given, as well as an updated list of species for the North Caucasus and Transcaucasia, new findings in the territory of Kabardino- Balkaria, North Ossetia, Dagestan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. A taxonomic and zoogeographical analysis of the fauna was carried out. A brief description of the morphology of the aquatic semi-hermetic imago and the identification tables for fauna species of the North-West Caucasus, illustrated with original photographs, is presented. Separate chapters are devoted to ecological features, trophic connections, biotopic and altitude distribution of water bugs; distribution maps of species on the territory of the region have been compiled. The book is intended for entomologists, zoologists, hydrobiologists, ecologists, specialists dealing with environmental issues, and teachers and students of biological specialties.

В монографии представлен обзор фауны полужесткокрылых насекомых инфраотрядов Nepomorpha и Gerromorpha Северо-Западного Кавказа. Рассматривается история изучения водных полужесткокрылых на территории Кавказа, приводится аннотированный каталог водных полужесткокрылых фауны Северо-Западного Кавказа (50 видов из 21 рода и 11 семейств) и уточненный список видов для Северного Кавказа и Закавказья, новые находки на территории Кабардино-Балкарии, Северной Осетии, Дагестана, Абхазии и Южной Осетии. Проведен таксономический и зоогеографический анализ фауны. Представлено краткое описание морфологии имаго водных полужесткокрылых и определительные таблицы для видов фауны Северо-Западного Кавказа, проиллюстрированные оригинальными фотографиями. Отдельные главы посвящены экологическим особенностям, трофическим связям, биотопическому и высотному распределению водных клопов и водомерок; составлены карты распространения видов на территории региона. - Книга предназначена для энтомологов, зоологов, гидробиологов, экологов, специалистов, занимающихся вопросами охраны окружающей среды, преподавателям и студентам биологических специальностей, аспирантам.
